Issues relating to Foreign Donations
2008/06/17

Since May 12th when Sichuan was hit by a strong earthquake, the people around the world have shown their concerns and provided generous assistance. This fully demonstrates their affinity towards the Chinese people. We would like to express our thanks to all those who have helped.

In handling the donation from the international community, the relevant departments of the Chinese government have been trying their best. We would like to make sure that all the donations to be well taken care of and used in the most appropriate way. The complete procedures in receiving the donations have been required and the special accounts set up. Also, the opinions of the donors should be fully respected and all the practices should be open and transparent. The supervision over the donations has been exercised so as to ensure that they have been used only for the purpose of our relief and rebuilding work.

Up to now, the donations received by the Chinese Foreign Ministry and our missions abroad have been transferred to the Ministry of Civil Affairs or other departments designated by the donors. The Foreign Ministry of China would keep track how the donations have been used and would make feedbacks available to the donors in time.
