H.E. Mr. Tang Guoqiang, the Chinese Ambassador to Norway attended the "Bergen China Summit-2009" seminar hosted by the Bergen Chamber of Commerce on October 20, 2009. Ambassador Tang made a speech entitled "Chinese Economic Situation and Prospect for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Norway". In his speech, Ambassador Tang introduced important measures China had taken to cope with the global economic recession and pointed out that those measures adopted by China focusing on maintaining growth, adjusting structure and promoting reform were very effective and China' s economic growth had contributed to the world economic recovery. Ambassador Tang gave a positive evaluation of the achievements on the relations between China and Norway in their economic and trade cooperation in recent years and said that the two countries should consolidate the cooperation in the traditional fields, such as petroleum and gas, maritime and fisheries. Ambassador Tang also hoped that the Norwegian entrepreneurs would seize the opportunities to promote the cooperation with the Chinese counterparts in various fields of new energy, environmental protection, recycled economy, low-carbon economy, new materials, bio-pharmaceuticals, research and development on ship equipment. In addition, Ambassador Tang introduced China's "going global" strategy and hoped that more Chinese companies would come to invest in Norway. Ms. Zhouping, the Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Gunnar Bakke, Mayor of Bergen and around 100 persons from the business circle attended the summit. |
