Confrontation or Cooperation?

—— Embassy Spokesperson’s Response to the threat reports of relevant intelligence agencies of Norway

The Chinese Embassy in Norway has noticed the reports and assessments released by PST, NIS, and NSM, which the Chinese side is strongly dissatisfied with and opposed to.

The reports are full of Cold War mentality and hostility towards China. Without any factual basis, they categorically denied normal exchanges and bilateral cooperation, while provoking panic. This is not an assessment, but rather a clear war drum to contain and seek “decoupling” with China. Over the past 10 years, China’s average contribution to world economic growth is over 35% percent, China has become a major trading partner of over 140 countries and regions, and applications from China account for nearly half of all patent applications registered by the World Intellectual Property Organization in 2021. Facts have proved that China adheres to the path of peaceful development, and China's development is not a threat, but an opportunity shared by the world.

Peaceful cooperation is the foundation of China's development. It is not China that stations tens of thousands of troops on other countries' territories, frequently eavesdrops on other countries, including their leaders, and launches invasion under pretenses. Therefore, we ask the relevant agencies to carry out their due responsibilities and objectively identify the real threat. We also look forward to communicating with all parties based on mutual respect, cooperating for win-win results, and jointly aiming for cooperation and development in an increasingly polarized and confrontational world.
