On June 21, 2023, Ambassador Hou Yue called on H.E. Mr. Torgeir Larsen, the newly appointed Secretary-General of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Hou congratulated Secretary-General Larsen on assuming his new post, and said that China-Norway relations have maintained sound and stable development in recent years, with fruitful results in political exchanges, economic and trade cooperation, multilateral cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, which have brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang paid a successful visit to Norway recently, and the two sides reached broad consensus on further deepening China-Norway relations. As the Chinese Ambassador to Norway, she would like to establish good working relations and personal friendship with Secretary-General Larsen and work together to take bilateral relations to a new level.

Secretary-General Larsen thanked Ambassador Hou and said that in the face of the complicated international situation, Norway and China encounter many common challenges and share many common interests. The two countries should strengthen communication, expand consensus, clear up misunderstandings and reduce differences. The Norwegian side always attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is willing to work with the Chinese side to enhance friendly exchanges and expand practical cooperation.
